I brought home a 18mth old buck 5 days ago and he has since developed clumped poop ,.He had previously been on a 16% pellet and Alfalfa hay . I was under the impression that alfalfa was not good for bucks so He is getting plenty of browse ,green pasture and a 12% pellet feed 2 cups 2x a day . He has access to loose minerals and of course fresh water .What am I doing wrong? Should I increase something or decrease something ?? Karen
worms and the new environment........ sometimes just like with us a change in environment can upset the tummy..... new types of grass, new brand of pellets, new brand of minerals... I would definetly check his eyelids and worm if needed and just keep like you are doing and see if he settles in....... also putting out some baking soda free choice will let him get to it if he feels his tummy is a bit off........
How quickly did you change his feed over??? Some of my does and one of my bucks generally have a more clumpy "poo" vs the nice berries all are healthy so I mark it up in the not worry about it category.
when I checked today , his poops were much better , no longer completel smoothie but more of a clumped berries type . Hie eyes looked good . so I think it might just be due to the change in feed and hay . I 'll keep a eye on him Thanks Karen
