I am a little worried about my goats udder. SHe hasn't kidded yet but one side of her udder is some what larger then the other side. It almost looks strutted and the other side isn't like that at all. This has happened rather fast. She seems OK. I would have swore she had two contractions this morning but is back to her old self now. A little off white mucus but not much.
Off white discharged is about 2 weeks away from delivery in my experience.I have goats that will start bagging up 2 months before due date. The udders should level out.If she was laying down and you saw it right after she got up that can cause one to look bigger. The udder is one item that seperates into 2 channels. Example: A creek has a fork in it and it turns into 2 streams. If a beaver builds a dam in one of them, water does not flow as well.Once the dam is removed is runs just as fast as the other stream.I hope this makes sense.Contractions and little baby pushes are normal, just like Braxton -Hicks in women.
The discharge on and off has been happening for about a week and a half now. That make sence with the udders I was thinking that they should even out. The bagging up on the one side happened maybe within a 12 hour span so I would think the other side will follow. I hope I don't need to wait much longer I am like a child at Christmas. lol then Chirstmas is aways late. The contractions are a good thing to know about. You could tell she felt something but got over it and moved on.
it is hard on the nerves isn't it. don't worry she will be fine. it is really hard to tell when they will kid, but most likely when your not looking. remember that nature has a way about her, she always seems to know what is best.. as long as there is no fever don't worry. try to be patient! yea, right!
