My husband purchased 2 baby goats at a livestock auction. One is a nubian we think and the other we think is a nigerian. Both were pooping regular pellet type poops when we got them on Monday and yesterday but we woke up this morning with the goat house covered(not literally) in a green liquid poop and the nubian(TeddY) has green goop in his left eye. It looks like the kind of stuff someone gets when they have a sinus infection, that kind of green gunk?
We are very new to this and have no history on either of these boys. We are giving them plenty of hay and goat feed and I change their water at least twice a day. I know the first day we got them they had been at auction all day without food or water. Is it possible that the little piggies are just overeating or should I be concerned?

Most likely the diarrhea is from the change in food and overeating. I would not give them grain for a few days, just hay and water and see if that clears up the poops. Any idea how old they are? Go to Tractor Supply (if you have one near) and get a bottle of CD ANTITOXIN. It should be in a big bottle in the refridgerated area where the other vaccines are sold. Give each boy 10 cc of the CD ANTITOXIN orally for 5 days. Just grab there heads and stuff a syringe (with no needle) in their mouth and push the plunger.
The eye problem could be a sinus thing. Are their noses snotty? Do they cough a lot? Does is sound flemmy? If so, you can treat with LA200 or biomycin (also at Tractor Supply). Give them 2 cc a day for 5 days either intramuscular or subcutaneous.
I would also give some probios to help thier rumen, read some of the articles on the main page for getting started with goats. feed , nutrition, minerals and worming are all need to know stuff, as well as hoof trimming, the one click refrence section has alot of good info as well.
Who turned on the eletric fence without telling me? X#!

Do you know their age? I would worm first thing-???Are their gums white or light pink. Use dectomax-injectable but drench (give orally)2 to 3cc for 30-40 lbs-- Worm again in 7 days ! Don't let them get dehydrated. If you don't have probotics use yogurt mixed with some cinnnamon & pedialite or a mineral drink or just calf/kid powdered milk mix even skim milk--I'm trying to use what u can buy 24 hrs a day! and drench them with about 3/4 ounces 3 or 4 times. till the poops are gone--- I know this is late---How are they ??
