My does have watery eyes and was wondering if it would be pink eye and what can I do? They are all pregnant and approaching the 100 day mark. I ahve read that pink eye can cause abortions. I hope this isnt the case.
If you think it is pinkeye you can get eye ointment at tractor supply or any good feed store I think it is terimicin I know that is spelled wrong I have used it in the past it costs 9.00 a tube thier are other treatments as well , It could be from hay dust and may be no cause for alarm as well .some injectable antibotics treat pink eye but I have never used them. others will post soon maybe with a better plan.
Who turned on the eletric fence without telling me? X#!
Usually pink eye is not a big problem if you knock it out before it starts. Penicillin squirted in the eyes will do as good. Usually a couple days will fix it. I really like to do it twice a day if possible, but that is not always an option around here. The antibiotic Terramycin is good also as Donnie said. The main thing is to stop it now, whatever you chose to use, whether it is pinkeye, irritations, or allergies. If everybodies eyes are draining I would say it is probably allergies as usually pinkeye won't get everybody at once. You will have one or two show up, then when you think that is cleared up, one or two more will get it.

I had a doe last summer that had watery eyes that I thought might have been pinkeye, but no one else (7 other goats) came down with it. Her eyes watered so much that the hair fell out primarily under her eyes and became very raw looking and irritated. My local farm store recommended "nfz puffer" that is used to treat eye infections in dogs and cats. That controlled it as long as I used it, but once I stopped medicating, the symptoms came back.
I finally used a round Bio Mycin 200 (an injectable) that cleared it up in a few days. No problems since, so I guess that it was some type of eye infection other than pinkeye.
I guess my lesson is that you may need to try a couple if medications if her condition does not clear up quickly.
I had a little pinkeye outbreak here and have been using an nfz puffer (Nitrofurazone). It worked quite well on my Nigerians, but my Lamancha's eyes are even redder and more watery than before. Has anyone else seen these results, if so, should I try something else right away or let her eyes rest a few days?
go ahead and use the Biomycin (LA 200 without the sting) or Pennicillan dropped directly into the eye twice a day if possible and it will get rid of it......... just remove the needle from the syringe first....
